Butthole Surfers and much more announced for Safe As Milk!

27th January 2017

The final line-up announcements for Safe As Milk and you have to say we’ve brought you some pretty gigantic additions here.

Firstly, those legendary lysergic Texans, Butthole Surfers join the cast of this first Safe As Milk, playing their first UK show in years and certainly the only one they will play this year. Plus the godfather of Detroit techno/founder of Underground Resistance and the king of Afrobeat (and Fela Kuti‘s drummer for a decade) collide in the duo of Jeff Mills & Tony Allen. The duo of Craig Leon & Martin Rev brings the Suicide legend together with the producer of their first album (and albums by Blondie, The Ramones, The Fall and his own sublime electronica) together on stage for the very first time.

We also add the magical, dub-drenched r&b of Forest Swords, the often dark and intense electronics of Blanck Mass, everyone’s favourite post-folk troubadour Richard Dawson live with a band for the first time, the always stunning Demdike Stare, plus a host more glorious additions: Karen GwyerRezzettThe Cosmic DeadBasic RhythmWarm DigitsBasic HouseAsiq NargileGuttersnipeCloud Becomes Your Hand, all topped off by Greg Fox‘s ‘brutal prog’ trio Zs.

We’ve still got a lot more to tell you about too: special guest late night DJ sets and pool parties, our incredible marketplace with label pop-ups (including PANBlackest Ever BlackNinja TuneHouse Of Mythology and many more), our own specially brewed beers and coffee, amazing food, bespoke artworks from UK Poster Art, and a unique series of lathes cut live at the festival by Lathe Revival. We’ll also have a great film programme with some amazing documentary exclusives, some unmissable q&a’s and late-night, brilliantly soundtracked splatter classics. And we’re planning workshops, exhibitions and all kinds of great stuff you’ll hear about very soon.

We said from the outset that we wanted to take the much-loved holiday camp festival format and really take it to the next level and we hope you can see now what we’ve been talking about. A phenomenal line-up you’ll see nowhere else and so much more too.

So – get booking, keep ’em peeled for more updates and get ready for an unforgettable Safe As Milk in April – see you there!
